Quiz Night

The next Officer’s Club Quiz Night will be held on Friday 17th February 2012 at The Masonic Centre. 7 for 7.30pm start.

Please join us for a fun quiz night with Quiz Masters Paul and Tim. The cost is £10/head which includes supper and a cash prize for the winning team. Tables of up to 8 people in a team. If you can’t get a full table then let us know in advance and we will make up teams on the night.

Club Christmas Dinner

We have decided to have a Club Christmas Dinner.
At the Masonic Hall, St Johns Green, on Monday 19th December with a 7.00pm for 7.30pm start. (Dress code Christmas finery)

The Menu is as follows

Starters
Broccoli & Stilton Soup
Prawn cocktail

Main course
Roast turkey & trimmings
Baked Salmon steak with a herb breadcrumb topping finished with dill sauce

Dessert
Christmas pudding & brandy sauce
Profiteroles & chocolate sauce
Cheese & biscuits

The turkey will be fresh and cooked on the day.

2 courses £13 50
3 courses £18.00

There will be carol singing led by some choristers with mulled wine available on arrival, decorations and lots of Christmas cheer.

We really would like to know if you are attending by Dec 12 so we can get the turkeys ordered.

Following the success of the last thai evening we have again booked the Thai 1 restaurant on East Hill for another Club event. Please note that the restaurant will be for the exclusive use of Club Members on this night.

CGOC Bridge Club Christmas Lunch

COLCHESTER GARRISON OFFICERS’ CLUB BRIDGE CLUB

The bridge club annual Christmas lunch is being held at the Masonic Centre
St. John’s Green on Friday 16 December at 12 noon. As you will see from the attached menu it will be followed by our usual duplicate session. The price includes mince pies at the interval and also a number of fun ‘prizes’ being organised by Anthony. The cost of the lunch includes the cost of ‘prizes’ for various categories of achievements at Bridge throughout the year.

Please book either by downloading and completing a booking form and sending it with your cheque to Colchester Garrison Officers’ Club, St. John’s Green, Colchester CO2 7EZ or by handing it to Anthony next time you play.

Three points to note:
1. The last date for booking is Friday 9 December.
2. When completing your booking for please state your choices from the menu.
3. Not all our members are on the internet. If you know of anyone in this position please help by telling them of the lunch and passing them a copy of the menu and booking form.

Rememberence Sunday Lunch 13/11/11 – FULLY BOOKED

Directions to Watercress Hall

From A12 take A1124 Halstead Rd. After 3/4 mile turn right just before petrol station, signpost Fordham. Approx 1.5 miles past Fordham church and immediately turn right opposite pub. Watercress Hall is about 1/2 mile along on left.

PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS EVENT IS NOW FULLY BOOKED AND THAT WE HAVE SEVERAL PEOPLE ON A WAITING LIST.

A Remembrance Sunday Lunch is being held at Watercress Hall, Fordham, for members and their guests on Sunday 13th November, 12.30 for 13.00hrs.

The Menu is Curry or Steak and Kidney Pie followed by Dessert and Coffee. The price is £18/head and there will be a raffle in aid of the Army Benevolent Fund.

Talk about Isambard Kingdom Brunel 26/10/11

There will be a talk on the life and works of Isambard Kingdom Brunel, civil engineer, creator of the Great Western Railway and designer of numerous significant ships and bridges. The talk will be given by Roger Mannion at the St Giles Masonic Centre, 19.00 for 19.30hrs. £5/head.

Roger Mannion is a qualified lecturer in adult education, who has taught history with the WEA for approaching 11 years. He is the author of 3 railway history books and has carried out research in Egypt and Pompeii for various historical projects.
