Welcome to the Colchester Garrison Officers’ Club.
For first-time visitors to our website you may not know that our clubhouse which had stood for over 100 years was completely destroyed by fire in July 2010.
Since then the Club has continued to exist in a somewhat peripatetic way utilising our tennis courts that were undamaged and borrowing and renting facilities from others in order to continue to function. In this way the Club has continued to operate and has maintained its universal appeal to new and existing members.
The Club continues to attract tennis players of all standards as does the squash which is played through the winter months.
Our social functions have remained as popular as ever and vary from evenings out in local restaurants to Quiz Nights and organised Club Walks in the nearby beautiful countryside usually concluded by a pub lunch somewhere.
In September 2012 building works started on a new clubhouse with an estimated completion time of July 2013. The new building will offer members all of the accommodation that existed before except in a modern and new but traditionally built environment.
Check out the Club Rebuild section on the website, dedicated to the rebuild, where you will be able to see, computer generated images and photographs of the building works as they go on.
