CORONAVIRUS UPDATE THURSDAY 26/11/20

Dear Members,
Following the most recent Government statement we are pleased to confirm that the Club will reopen on Wednesday 02/11/20. As widely predicted it is now confirmed that Essex will need to adhere with Tier 2 restrictions and this means some changes to the way the club can be used.

Social Distancing
It is still imperative that everyone complies with social distancing instructions both inside the Club and whilst on the premises. Everyone is advised to familiarise themselves with the rules that apply. At the bottom of this email there are links to the LTA and Snooker governing body websites please take time to study any thing that may be relevant to you.

Club Opening
Broadly speaking the Club will operate the same as immediately before the current lockdown with the exception that alcoholic drinks can only be served when ordered with a ‘substantial meal’. Socialising inside the Club will be limited to family households or bubbles. The rule of 6 applies everywhere else on the premises.

We hope that the tightening of rules will not stop members supporting the Club and in response will be offering a specially priced ‘hot pot’ meal on Monday – Friday evenings as well as stocking up on no-alcohol beers and wines.

Sunday Lunch
We intend to reintroduce a twice weekly Sunday lunch, the first of which is on 6th December. Numbers are strictly limited so please remember to book if you intend coming.

The Club opening hours will be as follows

Monday
11.00 – 14.00 Sandwich menu available
17.00 – 20.00 Hot pot meals available

Thursday

17.00 – 20.00 Hot pot meals available

Friday

Saturday

16.00 – 18.00

Sunday
11.00 – 14.00 Sandwich menu available. Full Sunday lunch available every other week.
Please note that we are still able to serve non-alcoholic drinks without having to dine.

Tennis
The tennis courts will be open again from 9.00am on Wednesday 02/11/20 with all forms of play allowed. Organised club sessions will resume as will coaching.
We will continue to monitor the LTA website, any changes to this situation will be forwarded where appropriate.

Snooker
Snooker is once again permitted and unlike before members can now play doubles as well as singles. Prior to this lockdown the booking of the snooker table was causing a lot of complaint as some members ignored the rules regarding length of play. Please note that the table is only able to be booked for a maximum of 2 sessions. If after your allotted time the table is not booked players are allowed to stay on. This will be checked daily and anyone not abiding by it will have their booking cancelled

Squash
We are awaiting clarification from Squash England as to whether courts can be reopened. As gyms are now permitted there is a glimmer of hope. More information to follow when available.

CORONAVIRUS UPDATE WEDNESDAY 4/11/20
Following the most recent Government directive the Club will be closed from 8.00pm on Wednesday 04/11/20 until Wednesday 02/12/20.

The main gates to the Club will be locked for the duration of this period and the Clubhouse and tennis courts will be out of bounds.

We expect the Club to reopen on Thursday 03/12/20 and a further communication will emailed closer to the time.

Please note that during this period some members of staff will occasionally be working inside the clubhouse however no access to the Club will be permitted.

CORONAVIRUS UPDATE 17/10/20
As of today, Essex has been moved to Local Covid Alert Level High. Unfortunately this means changes to permitted activities at the Club as follows

INDOOR ACTIVITIES
All indoor activities are now restricted to taking place either on your own or with other members of your household or social bubble. This will affect Squash, Snooker, Bridge, Dining and general use of the bar. We hope that these restrictions will only be temporary but we will continue to follow Government rules as advised.

OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES
Outdoor activities are unchanged with social gatherings, eating and drinking still permitted within groups of six and Tennis unaffected.

NEW
We are planning to install wall mounted heaters above the patio area to make it more comfortable to meet outside and also introduce some variations to our food and drink menu (such as mulled wine) to reflect the autumnal feel. The heaters should be in place within the next few days.
We have explored the use of marquees and the like but feel that the temporary nature of such structures does not provide enough shelter from the elements, and if sides are fitted they become indoor areas and subject to the same restrictive rules as stated above.

OPENING HOURS
Opening hours remain unchanged as previously advised below.

The members lounge bar is now open and is limited to seating only. A limited number of tables and chairs have been laid out allowing members to socially distance. On arrival please wait to be seated.
The restaurant and garden room areas will be used for dining.
We recommend booking in order to guarantee a table inside.

The outdoor service remains as before with bar and food orders taken and delivered to a serving station.

SOCIAL DISTANCING
The hallway is now two-way and a keep left system has been introduced in the corridors and entering the bar, this must be observed at all times.

When inside members should sit in their own household groups (or support bubbles) or with one other household. The rule for outdoor dining/drinking remains the same, groups of up to 6 people from multiple households. Contact tracing remains in place and must be completed before ordering any food or drink.

Please remember people must observe Government guidelines at all times and maintain a 1 metre+ distance at all times.

BAR SALES
Bar stocks are gradually getting back to normal and we now have a draft ale available as well as lagers.

MENU
An increased menu will be in operation on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday lunchtimes. We have spoken to our suppliers and once again will be able to offer our fresh fish and chips menu as well as a choice of other hot food. Our recent sandwich offering is also to be extended.

We suggest booking in order to guarantee a table and where possible recommend ordering in advance to limit any waiting time. Tables can be reserved by calling the Club on 01206 913075.

PLEASE NOTE THAT WE ARE STILL NOT ABLE TO ACCEPT CASH PAYMENTS SO PLEASE REMEMBER TO BRING YOUR DEBIT CARD WITH YOU.

TENNIS
Courts 1,2 and 3 are currently being repainted and but for the weather would have been completed. They should be finished in the next couple of days.

SQUASH
The squash courts are now open and available for play. Please note Government guidelines state that players can only go onto court for solo squash practice, or to play with others from the same household or support bubble.
If playing please give-way to others in the squash court corridors.

SNOOKER
The snooker room was reopened last month and guidelines issued then remain unchanged.

BRIDGE
We are still currently unable to offer organised Tuesday and Thursday bridge sessions.

1. MEMBERS STILL NEED A KEY FOB TO GAIN ENTRY TO THE BUILDING, DON’T FORGET TO BRING YOURS WITH YOU! (If your fob is not working then please leave it in an envelope at the bar with your details and it will be reprogrammed)
